New transportation systems have to be developed to face the increase of pollution and the depletion of petroleum resources. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs) are developed as short term solutions. MEGEVH is a French scientific network which aims to propose generic methodology for efficient energy management of different EVs and HEVs, independently of the kind of vehicle. EMR and inversion-based control, has been intensively used in that objective [Bouscayrol 10] [Chen 10]. Within MEGEVH, a heavy hybrid vehicle [Boulon 10] has been studied in order to validate the different methods. This work is a collaboration between L2EP Lille, FEMTO-ST and Nexter Systems company. An extension has been also developed in collaboration with Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. The EMR of the complete vehicle has been developed and a simulation under Matlab-Simulink has been achieved. This simulation model has been tested using comparisons with experimental results on the real vehicle [Boulon 10]. A first control scheme has been deduced from the EMR of the vehicle, but only straight lines are considered (i.e. identical behaviour of all the driven wheels). Thus a master slave control has been realized. An extension of the initial control scheme is thus required to take benefit of this complex hybrid vehicle.
